Am Land ist die Welt noch in Ordnung

In the project, Am Land ist die Welt noch in Ordnung, I put my roots under the microscope, mirroring them with the current developments in Austria. Life in Austria is imagined as idyllic with beautiful landscapes and close to traditions. On a surface this romantic holiday ideal is true, but it clashes underneath this picture-perfect surface with fears of change or developments that could threaten this traditional culture. It is a constant back and forth between understanding the culture, accepting it and distancing from it.

Nationality becomes a factor of the worldview which one can’t just separate from but must comment, state an opinion, as it is a part of an identity by necessity and without a real choice. Our nationality is something we are proud of, we fear for and we want to protect. But what is the real threat here?
